Located to the south of the River Thames, our serviced flats in Elephant & Castle are the perfect location for busy city breaks.
A jumble of grey tower blocks, a well-used main road and a maze of pedestrian subways and roundabouts, Elephant & Castle is a little underappreciated, considering its rich history. The odd name itself derived from an old coaching inn and a pub with the same name still stands today. A very early reference to this namesake was heard in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, where Antonio informs Sebastian that a good place to lodge for the night is “in the south suburbs, at the Elephant.”
This vibrant area is wedged between the eclectic south and central London and is a short distance from many of London’s major business districts, including Westminster, the West End and the City of London. Serviced by two linked London Underground stations, with access to the Northern and Bakerloo lines, as well as the Southeastern National Rail service and Thameslink Railway, Elephant & Castle is great for those planning on moving around the city or onto Greater London during their stay.
Not only a great place for those in the city on business, this area is also home to Ministry of Sound, The Coronet and the Imperial War Museum and is in close proximity to Kia Oval, making it a great destination for those hoping to explore a little, too.
The London College of Communication and London South Bank University are also based in the area, and our Protem apartments are perfect for those visiting students or for those studying who are looking to stay in a little more luxury.
