Wherever in London your serviced apartment is situated, you can be sure that the comprehensive public transport system will get you around quickly.  Here is our short guide to London transport, which we hope will help settle you in to London a little more easily.

London Underground

You will never have to walk too far from any of our London serviced apartments to find your nearest underground station, making it easy for you to travel anywhere in the city during your stay.  Fares start at £4.30 for a single journey, however, if you are staying for an extended period of time we would recommend an Oyster card (available for a £5 deposit) which can be used on a pay-as-you-go basis and provides savings of up to 50% on standard fares.  A map of the London Underground system can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

London cycle hire (Boris Bikes)

The Underground is the quickest way to travel around London but if you are looking for a more leisurely and healthy way of travelling then the Barclays Cycle Hire scheme (colloquially known as ‘Boris Bikes’ after Mayor Boris Johnson) could be for you.  With docking stations situated all over London and easy to use terminal screens to guide you through the process of hiring a bicycle this is one of the best ways to travel around during your stay in one of our serviced apartments especially in the warmer weather.  Prices vary depending on how long you hire the bicycle for but start from just £1 for one hour.

Thames Clipper, river service

If you need to get to an important meeting but would like a calm travel experience to gather your thoughts or go through last minute preparations then the Thames Clipper offers a serene and soothing journey along the Thames stopping at numerous points on the river.  During peak times boats travel every twenty minutes.  Adult fares begin from £3.50 for a single journey and Oyster cards can be used to provide discounted fares.

Taxis

London’s famous black cabs provide an excellent service with all drivers expertly trained in ‘The Knowledge’ meaning that wherever you need to go they will be sure to know the quickest way to get you there.  You will always be able to pick one up within a couple of minutes of stepping out onto the street.

Bus

Alternatively if you have the luxury of time on your side you may want to experience London’s bus system.  Oyster cards are once again accepted on buses to reduce your fare, however buses are not always the quickest way to travel in the City and we do recommend if you are on a tight schedule to consider one of the other travel options available to you.
