The Floating Hotel

One novel accommodation solution which seems likely to present itself for the London Olympics, will be floating hotels, or Flotels as they are now known. Successfully used during the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa, Flotels offer a great solution for host cities to temporarily increase their room stock to cope with the huge increase in demand.

One of the main docking points for any possible Flotels could be the West India and Millwall Docks in London's Docklands. Wood Wharf, which is next to Canary Wharf and South Quay DLR station, has already secured deals with super yacht owners according to reports.

The Wood Wharf docking point is right next to our Canary Wharf serviced apartments, Discovery Dock, so if you are staying with us during the Olympics, a Super Yacht show will be right on your doorstep, maybe next to a couple of Flotels.

Of course, our serviced apartments in London are sure to offer more space, privacy and comfort than the Flotels, but unfortunately we cannot say the same about the super yachts!!
