About This Area

From a little town in the heart of West Berkshire, Newbury has so much to offer with a number of great attractions including an outstanding racecourse, castles, theatres and much more.

Newbury racecourse provides a fantastic day out for everyone with plenty of events across the year and a host of entertainment to go with it. It has modern facilities as the UKs leading racecourse venue with top class dining and unmissable racing.

Newbury is home to Highclere Castle which is recognisable to many as the home of BBC’s Drama series Downton Abbey. It is a country house designed by architect Sir Charles Barry and is 5000 acres big offering great sights, scenic grounds and holds cultural exhibitions.

A wonderful place to head for when visiting Newbury is the Artisan Market, a local produce selling market that takes place at Market Place on every last Sunday of the month. You’ll be able to purchase great food, original arts and crafts whilst enjoying entertainment, activities, live music and more. Next door to the market is Corn Exchange Newbury & New Greenham Arts which is a grade II listed historic building and one of Newbury’s iconic landmarks. It is used as a multipurpose theatre along with a cinema displaying great independent and British films. The Corn Exchange is a proud organisation that produces brilliant artists and companies whilst also organising pantomimes, outdoor cinematic events and small workshops.

For a more relaxing time, Donnington Grove Country Club offers clay shooting, picturesque walks, fishing and a championship 18 hole golf course. Just pre book all these great events and you’ll have an enjoyable day.

Newbury’s dining experience covers all corners, with exquisite high class restaurants as well as local pubs and casual restaurants all around. By using the local bus and train services in the area, travelling around Newbury is simple. Their special Vodafone bus service offers free rides to and from Newbury Rail Station and the main offices.
